We all know the old parable: if you throw a frog into boiling water, it jumps out. But put it in lukewarm water and turn up the heat slowly? The dumb bastard stays put until it’s cooked. That’s how gradual change works.
But that’s not what’s happening now.
The burner isn’t on low anymore. Someone cranked it to high, locked the dial, and walked away whistling. And the people who still have a functioning brainstem? We feel it.
The government isn’t just pushing policies we disagree with. It’s gutting the very system designed to keep things in check. It’s hacking away at the foundations of democracy while telling us everything’s fine. And the scary part? Some people actually believe it.
The Constitution lays out three branches of government, each meant to keep the others in check. But the executive branch doesn’t want checks. It wants total control. Courts that rule against them? Illegitimate. Laws they don’t like? Ignored. Agencies that are supposed to be independent? Hijacked and turned into tools of political vengeance.
The Department of Justice is being transformed into a personal shield for those in power and a weapon against their enemies. Congress is treated like an annoyance rather than an equal branch of government. Presidential powers are being stretched so far that if this were happening in another country, we’d be calling it what it is: authoritarianism.
And the message is clear—if the system doesn’t serve the people in charge, they’ll break it until it does.
Here’s a fun little trick they’re pulling: rewriting history in real time. We all watched Russia invade Ukraine in 2022. We saw the tanks roll in. We heard the speeches justifying the unjustifiable. But now, they’re telling us it was Ukraine’s fault all along. That poor, helpless Russia was "provoked." That if Ukraine had just rolled over and accepted being carved up, everything would be fine.
This isn’t just about Ukraine. This is about testing how much reality they can bend before people break. How many obvious lies they can get you to swallow before you stop trusting your own eyes. Today, it’s Ukraine. Tomorrow, it’s election results, climate science, economic numbers—anything they need to twist to fit their narrative.
If you want to know what’s happening to this country, don’t think of it as a nation being governed. Think of it as a corporation that was just acquired by a private equity firm.
Step one: slash everything that benefits regular people. Regulations, safety nets, workers’ rights—all of it gets stripped down because it cuts into profits. Environmental protections? Gone. Labor laws? Weakened. Consumer protections? Who needs ‘em?
Step two: extract as much wealth as possible. Public resources get privatized. Infrastructure gets sold off. Your tax dollars don’t go to making your life better—they go to the people at the top, funneled through tax cuts, government contracts, and loopholes so big you could fly Air Force One through them.
Step three: when there’s nothing left to strip, burn it all down. The debt balloons, the economy teeters, but it doesn’t matter because the people making the decisions already moved their money offshore. When the collapse comes, it won’t be them picking up the pieces—it’ll be you.
At this point, they’re not even pretending. The power grab is blatant. The current administration doesn’t want four years. It wants a dynasty. It wants a government run by loyalty, not laws.
The justice system? Only applies to enemies. The legislative branch? Expected to fall in line. The courts? Packed with ideological loyalists who will rubber-stamp anything. The idea of an independent press? Attacked and undermined until people don’t know what’s real and what’s propaganda.
What they want isn’t a presidency. It’s a monarchy. One leader, total control, no accountability. And if you think elections will stop them, you haven’t been paying attention. They’re laying the groundwork to make sure that if they win, they stay—no matter what the voters say.

You can close your eyes, tell yourself it’s just politics as usual, that things will “balance out” on their own.

1. Stop Funding the Arsonists.
Every dollar you spend is a vote for the world you want to live in. Stop handing cash to corporations and billionaires who bankroll the destruction of democracy while distracting you with cheap gadgets, next-day shipping, and an endless doomscroll. Ditch Amazon. Log off Twitter. Stop feeding platforms that amplify propaganda, reward extremism, and turn public discourse into a circus for profit. Buy secondhand. Support local businesses, independent artists, and mutual aid networks instead of the same corporate vultures bleeding the country dry.
2. Log Off and Opt Out.
The algorithm isn’t here to inform you—it’s here to keep you pissed off, scrolling, and exhausted. Social media isn’t where change happens. It’s where they want you trapped, yelling into the void while the real decisions get made behind closed doors. Set limits. Step away. Put that energy into something real. Join a local activist group. Show up to a city council meeting. Organize with actual human beings instead of screaming at avatars.
3. Break the Two-Party Illusion.
Both major parties are invested in keeping the system exactly as it is, even if one is setting it on fire a little faster. Real change has never come from within the establishment—it has been forced from the outside. Support independent journalism, third parties, labor unions, and grassroots activism. Vote, sure. But also strike, protest, and demand more than the half-assed options they’re handing you.
4. Build Systems Outside the System.
If you don’t like the game, stop playing by its rules. Barter. Grow your own food. Join a co-op. Pool resources with friends and neighbors instead of leaning on corporate safety nets that disappear the second they’re inconvenient. The less you depend on the machine, the less power it has over you.
5. Refuse to Accept “Normal.”
The biggest con of all is convincing you that this is just how things are, that there’s no alternative. But history says otherwise. Every revolution, every seismic shift in society started with people refusing to accept that lie. Don’t let them gaslight you into thinking this is fine. It’s not. And you damn well know it.
Here’s the thing about turning up the heat too fast: people notice. They don’t just sit there and take it. They resist. They push back. They fight to change the temperature themselves.
The plan was to ease us in, to make the shift gradual so we wouldn’t notice. But someone got impatient. Someone turned the dial too fast.
